Hi everyone, just found this today, a device for self examination, looks interesting.

Just had a look, it is interesting as long as its not used as a self-diagnoses method, but i can see it being useful for checking up and looking around, teeth, gums etc. A great idea and thanks for sharing Mr Fox , hope all is ok? All the best .
Chris
Interesting
I check the back of my tongue with an illuminated dental mirror. I wonder if it works upside down to see there?
If I had a nasoendoscope I would happily use that but I guess they are a tad more expensive than this gizmo
Hope you are well

"If I had a nasoendoscope I would happily use that". OMG you go straight to the top of the pile for iron"person"!! I just about tolerate it but could never so it to myself. That would be like self inflicted torture
Hi Peter,
The scope exams don't bother me. Maybe my oncologist is just pretty slick with them or I've got an easy nose to get through
I'll echo Chris though, Mr Fox's instrument shouldn't bee used for diagnosis and even with checking yourself you have to know what's normal so I can see a potential clinician's minefield here
How are you getting on, by the way?

I agree the scoping depends very much on the skill of the user. Some are good and some terrify me when they start
And I totally agree about the use of such a device to look for any changes; hence the update below.
I am doing OK. Had a 2 week pathway for skin cancer on my leg last week. The hospital handled the pathway very well and it turns out, as anticipated, it a venous thing rather than a melanoma. As they say, it is better to get checked than ignore any changes.
Also got called in for an early ENT appointment. Walk in and the consultant looks at me and asks me why I am back 4 months early. I reply I don't know you called me in! I had thought that it was because I have a referral to Max Fax to check a gum issue in case the missing primary had gone there, but no...
Anyway, scoped and he says my throat is still inflamed and should not be after this long from the surgery. Really it is not worrying me, but he has given me some protein pump inhibitors to try for a month. Personally I don't think it will make any difference, but I'll try.
Still waiting for a definitive on my gum. I'll push that one in a week or 2 as it seems to have settled down and the referring dentist and I are fairly sure it is an abscess.
As with all of us - the takeaway message is - just keep on top of any changes to make sure we catch things early before they develop into a crisis.
Good news about the skin lesion
As for an inflamed throat, silent reflux can do that. I know....I periodically take lanzaprazole for just that.
Good luck with the rest and thank you for the update
