Nagging concern

Hi all, just wondered whether anyone else has had a similiar experience.

Intially when I was diagnosed I had two small lumps on my tongue, the consultant thought that one had tracked to create the other as they where very close to each other.

Once removed, the pathology report mentioned there was clear margin between them which suggested they are seperate, this has made me nervous.

Surgeon said its all now removed (clear margins), and there was nothing in my nodes.

Is it unusual to get two seperate lumps? Worrying about it popping back up.

Many thanks

  • Hi Mr Fox, perhaps he was not that clear on his wording as as im sure they would have removed the lump whether it was one or two as a lot of the time things change once they start operating as they never know what they will find. I would be very happy that the lump/s were removed with clear margins so try not to be nervous , i know its hard . Great news about the lymph nodes , now its just a case of making a good recovery. Wishing you all the best ,take care .

  • Hi Mr Fox

It's always a worry especially if things turn out differently to previous discussions with your team. As Chris says, the situation often changes between diagnosis and action, whether it's surgery or anything else. It's easy to be not on top of things when you are confronted with information so I would get back to your cancer nurse and get her to speak to your consultant about your worries. I doubt there is any concern and it will put your mind at rest.

These doctors are often economical with their information. But equally we often don't ask the right questions as we aren't prepared.

When is your next check up?

Oh and brilliant news about the clear nodes

  • Hi Mr Fox

When the histology came back after my op it said that I had two tumours, the main one 2.5cm and a micro tumour of a few millmeters.

I don't know how common it is
