about nine weeks ago I had a full rhynectomy for sac and am currently undergoing radiotherapy.
since the operation I have been suffering with bad nasal congestion
has any out there had similar and how did you cure it
Good evening terry, im afraid i cannot offer any advice on this subject if you type the words rhynectomy in the search bar next to donate then you might find some information there as i know there have been post written about the subject. It could be the radiotherapy causing these issues. I hope you manage to get some answers, all the best for your recovery, take care.
Chris .
Hi Terry I have only just seen your post. I had a Rhinoectomy in March 2020 followed by radiotherapy. One nurse at the hospital told me to get a decongestant as I would suffer if I didn’t. I tried a few but I have found Sterimar Decongestant is the best one. As we can’t blow our nose we end up having to spit it out. I hope this finds you much improved and you are coping with the congestion. Im just getting over the radiotherapy side effects and waiting for my prosthetic nose. Everything is taking longer due to the Coronavirus.
Take care,
Hi Trish
thanks for that I have tried that but it was not very successful. having been in hospital again recently to have my lymph glands removed they let me use a nebuliser. since I got home I have found the best relief has been to "breath" in some water and then spit out what comes through. I also find using sedated spray helps to keep it clear for a while. I find it worse of a night time while trying to sleep.
take care yourself
Terry
Hi Terry sorry to here it doesn’t work for you and you have been for surgery again. The trouble with this type of cancer is so rare you can’t find anyone in the same situation. At least you have found something that works. I don’t have bother overnight although I don’t sleep much overnight either. Im still waiting for the nose! Have you got your nose yet? I’m struggling getting dentures too now. The dentist is contacting the hospital to request that they make them. So more mushy food for god knows how long.
I always thought the radiotherapy would be the worst thing with the mask and everything but I’m not sure anymore.
Take care and if you need to have a rant anytime your more than welcome
