Hello everyone,
Hope you're all doing well and coping with lockdown. It's been a strange year with Pete's diagnosis on 24th December 2019, treatment starting mid-January and then lockdown, just as we were thinking about venturing outside again!
Pete had a PET scan last week - 13 weeks post treatment - and got the results yesterday. The cancer has gone completely and they don't need to do any further scans unless his symptoms recur. They seem prettty confident that the cancer has been kicked into oblivion! We were expecting months of repeat PET scans so we are delighted, although of course acknowledging that we need to remain extremely vigilant and will be going back to see the team (or speak to them remotely) on a monthly basis.
I just wanted to share this great news to motivate anyone currently undergoing treatment. At 13 weeks, he no longer has a sore throat, mucous, pain, difficulty swallowing etc etc. His main concerns are (as with everyone else), not being able to taste much (not even the Prosecco we had yesterday to celebrate) and a dry mouth. He's going to try Xylimelts and/or Acupuncture, both recommended here on the forum.
Take care and stay safe
Pip
Hi Pip brill news remember you from your very early days , like we say there’s light at the end if the tunnel. Onwards and upwards to infinity and beyond !
Dry mouth yep it sticks around no pun intended, now I am 21 month and still use half an xyimelt every night the acupuncture for me was a big turning point , well I think it was ok maybe coincidence but I still think it stimulates the saliva glands.
Great news keep in touch and enjoy life

Thank you so much, Pip. This is wonderful to hear!
I am six weeks post treatment and really struggling with mucus, so it’s hugely encouraging to read this.
Congratulations to your husband and very best wishes to you both,
Louisa
Morning Pip (worried_wife)
So happy to read about Pete’s scan.
Feel like we went through this together with our hubbies.
Ken also had the same result and he’s just finished 2 major decking projects and is playing 18 holes of golf regularly.
He’s 5 months post treatment now and slowly things are getting back to normal, or should I say the new normal. He uses Xylimelts every night and still has a Fortisip every day. He can’t eat meat and said he’s getting sick of fish but hey ho!
Lovely to hear from you.
