Hi all as I previously posted I did not get the all clear at 1st review for base of tongue and lymph node cancer after 2 cycles of cisplatin and 5uf then another 6 cisplatin and 30 radiotherapy I had repeat MRI  then urgent PET CT I knew it was not scar tissue due to same symptoms as before diagnosis my oncologist called me on thursday to tell me the bad news and that a MDT is on Wednesday so will no more but looks like surgery and chemo has anyone had this situation before? I'm devastated and scared how quick will I get treatment and can I do this all again any advice would be great thank you .

  • Good evening Bradlou, yes I remember your last post and we were hoping it was scar tissue, sorry that it has returned, I had floor of the mouth cancer involving a bit of my tongue where it was operated on followed by radio and chemo, unfortunately for me it about a year later but it had moved to my gum, not sure if it was the original tumour and it spread or a new tumour as I never asked. Due to my history, things moved quite quickly and they operated on me about 4 weeks later but I did not have chemo afterwards, things were ok for another year and again it returned so once again they operated with no chemo. This was back in 2008 when I was first operated on and have had no signs of it returning, ok it took three attempts but they never gave up trying and I never gave up hope. I'm sure they will get the ball moving a.s.a.p on whatever they decide to do, this Coronavirus might slow things down a bit. I know how you are feeling so don't give up hope as I'm sure you will be ok going through it again. Best wishes, take care.
