I could say that is what I had and it was a lymph node, but your best bet is to see your GP and get him to send you to a head and neck doctor to check it before you start to wind yourself up to much. that last bit will be easier than it sounds I know and the other thing is stay away from Doctor Google
Thank you so much for the reply Ron. Is it possible for a node to be so hard and fixed? I have had numerous nodes pop up over the last year in my groin and armpit but they felt soft and were movable, nothing like this at all. It's as though it's fixed to the jaw bone.
See your doctor my friend, it's not possible for anyone on here to give you an answer; we're not medically qualified to judge, we can only go by our own experience and every one of us has a different story.
Metastatic SCC diagnosed 8th October 2013. Modified radical neck dissection November, thirty-five radiotherapy fractions with 2xCisplatin chemo Jan/Feb 2014. Recurrence on larynx diagnosed July 2020 so salvage laryngectomy in September 2020.
Thanks mike, I am fully aware that a diagnosis is not possible and I am unable to get to a GP until tuesday. I was just hoping to gather some information, good and bad. Stories are greatly appreciated too. Anything at all. Outcomes... Similarities. Anything at all.
OK outcomes are good the vast majority of the time nowadays in the unlikely event you get the nasty diagnosis. If you want a story I blogged my way through and it's linked below. My "lump" wasn't rock solid and was more like a tonsillitis swelling but just on one side of the neck. Wish you well.

Thank you for sharing your story with me mike, I have began to read through it, and will continue to do so over the next couple of days. Such a lovely th ing for you to do, worded beautifully too! Thanks for the well wishes and will give an update on tuesday.
