Tomorrow I will meet the oncology team at the cancer centre. Hope to get all the details of the cancer, the treatment and the prognosis. I am experiencing mixed emotions: I really want to get on with it but extremely nervous about the whole process. Like everyone else I have trawled Dr Google so I’m expecting the full range of dreadful side effects.
Head & neck cancer isn’t as well documented here so please feel free to give any words of wisdom & advice.
Fingers crossed

Hello BrightonSimon, try and keep calm until you know where the cancer is and what their plan of treatment is, we can them help and advice you better. This is where DR Google is naughty because the only give the worst outcome, never a less severe one, which I find is closer to the truth, plus these comments on google are not from patients in many cases it's from people who have never had it, even peoples blogs can be frightening.. Where are you from ? as you said "its not documented well there" . Anyway, all the best for tomorrow hope all goes well and it's not as frightening like you first thought.
Please repost if you have any worries or concerns, Best wishes, take care.
Chris
Hi BrightonSimon
Wanted to send you best wishes for your appointment. Let us all know how you get on.
Chris has given you very good advice about staying off Google. I fell into that trap and ended up reading a load of stuff that wasn't relevant or correct and terrifying myself. There are bound to be some side effects but I only experienced a few of them. I found the best way for me to cope was to just deal with them as and when they arose.
You are bound to be feeling mixed emotions at the moment. I felt better about it all when I had a definite diagnosis and treatment plan.
I was treated in 2013 and I'm doing fine now. xx
All the best with your appointment today, everything will be explained to you today and you will know what your treatment plan will be. When you have all the info you should feel a lot better about things. I know I did. It's never a good idea to consult Dr. Google, as others have said the information is very unreliable.
Regards Ray.
