Hi everyone, I had an advanced rumour removed in 2017 from my upper right maxilla. My cancer had been missed by a number of dentist and doctors for over a year. I had 6 weeks radiation therapy to my upper cheek and nose area. No lymph nodes Involved.
The last few months I have had pins and needles and a hot feeling across my cheek an upper lip area between my nose and top lip. I told my dental consultant about it and she referred me to the consultants to discus the problem in early Feb. I was seen by the senior consultant and told it was because in surgery my infraorbital nerve was removed and this was all the other little nerves firing up to reconnect but couldn’t. He suggested medication if it got to bad and Botox for the twitching in the corner of my eye. The twitching of my eye has stopped. However the hot tingling feeling is still present. He did check inside my cavity and said he was not concerned about anything at that time.
He told me to cancel my appointment that had been pre booked and see the other consultant again in April, when I saw the other consultant he referred for a MRI scan. I am stressing so much that I should have had the scan done upon the first referral by the dental consultant months ago.
Has anyone else experienced these sensations in their face as I know it could be because of the surgery.
Hello ladyl, it really baffles me why these consultants cannot work together, especially in this day and age where everything including scans can be sent via a computer so they could have done a scan first then the second consultant could have looked it up in your records, job done, so I can see why you are stressed . I remember for I used to get shooting pains and a tingling sensation across my jaw when they rebuilt my lower jaw, this was put down to nerve endings and muscle damage so maybe yours is a similar issue, i don't get these sensations anymore so if all is well yours should die down but please do take pain killers if needed . Let's hope the scan comes along soon, they normally do due to your cancer history. Best wishes, take care.
