Hello,
I've just joined the forums and have filled in my profile.
I'd like to connect with anyone going through similar. I was once offered an Osophagectomy, but the cancer is too close to the Larynx and so surgical approach was recently altered to be Oesophagectomy AND Laryngectomy. However they have also offered chemoradiotherapy and evaluation of the pathways continues as I first post this message.
I'm on cycle I of FLOTS.
I look forward to connecting with you.
UPDATE 17th Feb: After evaluation of chemoradiotherapy Vs Oesophagectomy AND Laryngectomy, I have decided to go down the chemoradiotherapy pathway holding the operation in reserve.
Thank you HerfordWolve18d781. My best wishes for you.
Hi - welcome to the forum. Sorry that you have to be on here but this is a great source of information that you can tap in to. Don't be afraid to ask as there is alot of knowledge in this group.
I went through FLOT and an oesophagectomy approximately 4 years ago now. I have put most of my 'story' in my profile which may give you some idea what to expect but, to be honest, it appears that everyone's journey is different.
I hope that the FLOT is going well and not causing too many issues. My experience was that I could predict how I would feel each day through each cycle which allowed me to prepare and organise myself around those days when I knew that I would feel rough.
Hi. Thanks very much for your reply. 4 years after FLOT and Oesophagectomy brings just the experience I was hoping to find. I will read your "story" and most likely come back with a few questions.
I like the idea that I might be able to predict how I might feel each day based on the previous cycle(s). Tomorrow cycle 2 begins and I feel a little daunted based on days 2 and 3, based on the experience of cycle1.
I hope that post chemo-op you are continuing to enjoy good health.
Thanks again.
Hi again StrongerNow. I've now read your story and... WOW.... well done and keep it up! Your story is truly inspirational. Thanks again for getting in touch.
