Hi all,
Just been diagnosed with Oesophagal Cancer last week. Had my CT scan last week and results tomorrow I think .
My daughter had Leukaemia last year, so we're not strangers to cancer, but this one is new to me (she's in remission now).
Once the CT results come through, then we (I) will have a bit more idea of what's next..
Feeling fine on the whole, but getting fed up with meal replacement shakes. Managing to swallow soups etc too, with a bit of force from water pushing it down. Then regurgitating the leftover water stuck in my 'pipe'. A little phlegmy and up in the night to get rid of it too. Lost a good few Kgs - that was needed, but not in this manner !
Attempting to keep weight and muscle up, but it's hard to eat/drink enough at the moment..
Anyway... Hello all.
Hey Grey97,
Thanks for reaching out to the forum and allowing us to join you on your journey, I know you would prefer not to be here, but you are welcome, there is a wealth of support and knowledge here and I hope that you will continue to keep us updated.
I will keep everything crossed for you with regards to your results, and if you need any specific information I can probably add some links, if you haven't already been looking around by yourself.
I am pleased to read that your daughter is in remission, that is a positive at least, and I hope you get some positive news also

I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. An especially cruel blow at this time of year. That’s one of the characteristics of this dreadful disease in many cases it does not let itself be known until it is too late to cure. I am hoping that the supportive care you receive relieves the symptoms that you do feel and enables you to continue living life to the full for as long as you can.
kindest wishes

Oh Gray what an utter shock this must be for you and all around you, I am so sorry to read this
When my husband was diagnosed and told palliative I recall the metaphorical ground opening up and swallowing me whole, I was in a daze for some time, but I learnt in our case at least that palliative was not as I initially thought it. It was best care possible under the circumstances, it was trialling treatment and trying everything both medical and non medical. My husbands go to was Turkey Tail mushroom powder incorporated in his daily routine alongside all medical assistance.
A lot changed over the years, the advances of OC drugs and the way patients are monitored, and I am hoping that will continue to receive the best care possible for a very long time.
Thinking of you
