Hi
after losing my mum dad and brother to this I have now been diagnosed found early stage 1 but mdt team think best action is to operate provisionally booked in for 2nd July. I know it’s a big op and the risks but still so scared. Most of the time I’m positive but now it’s getting closer some days are really hard. I have support from my wife and kids so not alone. After reading some of the stories on here I can’t help but feel guilty that I’m lucky they caught it early just want to say keep positive and stay strong
Sorry to ask but did you mean you lost all of your immediate family to OC? That would suggest this cancer can be very hereditary. I think my Mom had it too but died from a more advanced heart condition before being diagnosed with it.
Good luck with your operation, it's a biggie as you mentioned but it's doable

Hi yes mum was 63 dad was 86 brother was 51 all stage 4 when diagnosed my youngest brother was tested and had Barrett’s so was operated on but they have said it’s not hereditary. I have no symptoms at all and only got tested due to family history
I have never heard of anyone being diagnosed at Stage 1 so you are very lucky in that regard. Obviously losing 3 family members to the disease must be awful and makes it hard to believe that there isn’t some form of hereditary nature to it. The fact that yours has been cauggt so early should give you an excellent prognosis. Good luck. CB
Thank you yes I feel so lucky it’s caught early no mention of chemo just straight into surgery I did have a choice of it being scraped but endoscopic is not convinced they will get it all so agreed to go for surgery 4 weeks to go and getting nervous
Hi there , i lost my mum to it 5 years ago mine was found stage 2 after Xmas I have my opp 3 weeks today I've had four chemo got four after the opp
Thanks trooper good luck to you aswel try and stay positive
Hi,
The op can be very successful as many people on here can say, so please try and take that as a positive and stay strong. Being the strongest mentally and physically will help you get through.
Isnt it also strange how many of us have said relatives have died from this but they say it's not inherited. My dad'who was diagnosed with stage 4 inoperable oesophagus cancer, his brother also died of this terrible disease.
Good morning , they said im young to get it 49 , and I've got the same surgeon who operated on my mum and he looked at the nurses in the room with us and said yes his mum had it aswe nodding , and I joked you could of told me it's contagious! But he then said you have one sibling I suggest you get her to get checked out aswel . My dad is 83 next week and has barrats. I'm from Essex by the way anyone ever wana hook up for a coffee .
