Afternoon, my dad has received radiotherapy and immunotherapy for his oesophageal cancer. The radiotherapy massively reduced the tumour, he was given immunotherapy bus sadly this has not worked. He has been offered Carboplatin & Fluorouracil chemotherapy, has anybody else had this chemotherapy and can give any advice?
Thank you
Hello Skyla
I am sorry to hear of your Dad's cancer. It must have been disappointing that the immunotherapy did not work as it was hoped it would.
I had chemotherapy for my endometrial cancer and one of the medications was carboplatin. I found chemo challenging at times but it was doable. There were side effects but on the whole these could be managed with medication.
Here is some info on the chemo that they are offering Dad.

Hopefully someone who has had the same treatment as Dad will be able to also offer some support.
It can be really hard to support someone who is going through cancer treatment so please do give the Support Line a call if you feel it would help to talk things through.
I wish your Dad well with his treatment and if there is anything you need, please do ask.
