Hi. Just a quick update. Good news for me I have been accepted onto the trial at christie to receive proton therapy. I start my chemo in Liverpool on monday, one session each week for 2 weeks then off to christie with weekly chemo for 3 weeks and proton therapy 5 days a week for 3 weeks. Follow up scan then to be booked in for the operation. I am still very scared about future outcome but can only be hopeful. although cancer is stage 3 I am lucky it is only in 1 node and not spread. Still managing to eat although loosing a little weight but think that is stress as much as anything else. Still a long road to go and am worried about my son. But that is being a parent I suppose !
Hi Toby12 welcome to the forum. That's great news about you being accepted for this trial and I wish you well with this as you move forward. We never stop worrying about our children no matter their age but do feel free to chat or ask anything that you need for your son..There is usually someone who can help or has been there themselves. Sending very best wishes your way for now.
Hello Toby
Sounds like we’re in the same boat I have OC T3N0M0 I am due to start chemo FLOT week beginning 25th Nov 4 sessions over 8 weeks. I haven’t been offered any other treatment unlike you. With a view to surgery then more chemo.
Wishing you well I will be interesting to follow your progress. Wishing you well stay strong.
Hi. I think I was right place right time as they say ! I am grateful with option I have been given. It was big decision to agree to operation. That is my main fear .My son just says I shouldnt quibble and just get "IT" cut out ! Suppose he just wants his mum here as long as possible. He may be 33 but still my baby !! Hopefully he will keep me strong.
The chemo I am due to have is carboplatin and capecitabine. Just jargon to me and do not know what the difference if any there is !
I wish you well with your treatment and will try update log. Stay strong and we will beat this horrible thing I am sure. xx Jean
Hi Jean
My tumour is completely blocking my esophagus so I am being fed by a feeding tube into my duodenum so my options are limited I starve to death continue being fed this way or I have surgery which I see as my only option. I can’t say I’m looking forward to either the chemo or the surgery but just feel I have to put my big girl pants on and get on with it !
I think you will find your son a great support and I wish you well with your treatment and yes as you say we will beat this horrible thing !,
Tricia
