and not really worried about75I was diagnosed with lung cancer years ago and have now got a second primary on my oesophagus. I am told I have a prognosis of one year. I am 75 and not really worried about the prognosis. I mostly want to know how others are coping with diet. I have found it difficult as I am very fussy about food.
Hi
Sorry to hear your prognosis.
Eating wise a lot of it is trial and error with regard what you can manage.
I was told nothing is off limits it’s about what you can manage and fancy. Don’t worry about conventional meals and meal times eat what you fancy/can, when you can. At one time I was advised to swap the fruit I was having as a snack and have peanut butter on something or a cake for example. Just enjoy what you like, if you need to use sauces or gravy to get it down then do so. I know some people used a blender to help as well although I just went very soft. It’s good to get some easy food in the house such as prepared or ready meals, soft desserts, ice cream etc. I found my tastes did change a bit as well, I went off meat as it can be hard to swallow but now enjoy cereal with full fat milk I would not have eaten before.
It can be hard and get you down so just enjoy what you can eat as often as you can eat it.
