Hello, I am about to start FLOT treatment next week prior to surgery. I am concerned about side effects and the unknown journey ahead. I was looking to retire next year and did not ever expect this, but does anyone.
Hi there,
I’m on the same journey. I’ve so far had 2 rounds of FLOT. I think I have been lucky with side effects. It’s been like a really bad hangover with a really fuzzy head. Few belly aches hair falling out,(although I didn’t have a lot to start with!) and generally tired and lethargic. Feel ok for 2-3 days after chemo. Then gradually feel worse. Lasts around a week then gradually feel better. Just in time for next round!! I have had the latest round postponed because my glands came up in my neck and bloods showed a possible infection. So my next round is Thursday. Side effects did seem a bit worse the second round…..

Hi my husband has just had his 2nd round and we agree with AdeG re the side effects so far. Would say exactly same. Good luck to you both. Hubby was going to retire in few months and we had two big uises booked to celebrate so it came as hell of a shock to us to too and something we did not expect at all….but positivity and faith in the medics is all we can do x

Thank you Geo and everyone for sharing your experience of Flot. Got my picc line in yesterday team at Ninewells very helpful and encouraging even when they had to change the dressing twice due blood seeping. Gearing myself up for next week first cycle.
Hi
i found each round of FLOT got harder as it’s a cumulative effect however I made sure I discussed the side affects and was given plenty of supportive medication each time, by the end we knew which anti nausea works for me! I read a report on research which showed that people who were active during chemo coped better so I tried really hard to go for a walk most days I couldn’t do everyday especially on the last two cycles but it did help me.
I hope your chemo goes ok and
