Hi, I am new to the group and the past 2 months have been a roller coaster. My husband has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer which has spread to liver and lymph nodes so surgery is not an option. He had his first chemo this week so keeping everything crossed.
Always sad to welcome someone new to the forum. However it's a nice place to let some stuff out, ask for guidance from others going through the same thing, etc.
The only problem is that each of us have an individual path that may not correspond to your husband's.
Modern drugs, chemo and new stuff coming out give us all the best chance of searching out and destroying this terrible condition. Don't give up, there's every chance your old man could have a successful outcome. Take a look on the liver cancer forum too.
Don't forget to look after yourself and keep strong.
I'm sorry to hear this. I am in the exact same position supporting a loved one. They are starting treatment next week. Doctors seem positive they can shrink the cancer. Try and keep your chin up, cancer isn't a deaf sentence.
OC treatment has come a long way over the past decade ..Never give up hope ..My husband donated his oesophagus and tissue removed in his surgery to the Cancer research biobank at their request as his was an unusual presentation ..So research and new breakthroughs are ongoing all the time ..Wishing you and your husband all the best with future treatment ..Stay strong
