Hi everyone my name is nick.I have just this morning after an endoscopy been told I have a tumour in my osophagus. Almost certainly malignant, have been referred for a ct scan to check if there has been any spread. Head all over the place at the momment. Symptoms have been swallowing issues, have been told to keep on a soft diet for the time being. Just wanting to reach out to other people dealing with the same thing
Hi Nick, I went through similar. I had a 2 week wait for the scan and then 3 weeks for the staging. It is a horrible wait but I had lots of blood tests and organ tests done before hand so Doctor said it was unlikely to have spread. I know it seems impossible just now but a positive attitude is the strongest weapon you can give yourself through this. Hope for the best outcome.I was diagnosed T3N0M0 which was stage 3 and operable. You could have a better diagnostics so wait for the scan results. Any diagnostics can be worked on. I had chemo, didn't work and so after a long wait I had the Lewis surgery. It was tough but doable. That was 3 months ago and I am No Evidence of Cancer, back on the school run and playing golf. Your head will be a buzz of questions and fears but speak with your doctor, MacMillans, your friends and family. I left it in my own head for a long time and it nearly drove me mad. Once shared the caring will come. Good luck with it all and any other queries, do not hesitate in asking. You are not alone, Bill
Hi bill thank you for your reply and I’m so pleased you have had a positive outcome. You are right you do have to have a positive mindset when dealing with this. I know it’s very early days with me my mind is still in a whirl but I’m sure once I know what I’m dealing with things will get easier. Many thanks for your reply appreciate it

Hi Nick everyone on the site will appreciate your concerns and worries the main thing at this stage is to keep stuffing the carbs down and try and keep the weight on as much as possible as the treatment will make you lose weight big time, I was quite lucky as I could swallow all the way through the treatment with Chemo and RT but I did have to go down to mush as I called it ! Eat as much rich dairy if you can stomach it that's what I did cheese, full fat milk, cream with what ever I could have it on, rice pudding and custard. You have most likely been given the booklet for this Cancer but just in case this is the link to the on-line version-PLEASE don't Dr Google !

Hi tony thank you for your words they are very encouraging yes I’m terrible for googling have done a lot of that even before they found the tumour yesterday which isn’t good I agree. I can eat fairly well but have to stick to a softish diet and will make sure I have has many calories as I can. Head still spinning if I’m honest and guess it will for a while untill I know exactly what’s involved trying to keep positive.
Hi
Getting a lot of protein is helpful, I looked in the supermarket, they have porridge with extra protein, also weetabix with extra protein, protein powder from sainsburys, jersey milk , cream , custard, rice puddings.
It will all help to build muscle, and calories.
this forum is so supportive.
take care

Hi, In the exact same place and bricking it. Endoscopy showed an ulcer with something suspicious under it. Cancer. Appears to be localised not in any other organs. CT scan really didn't show anything, so PET scan incoming. I have no idea what/how bad it's going to be in front of me..the worry just makes my anxiety higher.
Anxiety and stress I have struggled with since even before I decided to go to the doctor with my problem with swallowing then just went to a whole new level after that. The not knowing really is the worst. Sending you positive vibes I’m glad I’ve found this forum it really is good to talk with like minded people who just get it. Best wishes to you
