Hi,
My Mum 71 years old she had a Dr’s appointment three weeks ago for indigestion and has now had as endoscopy where she was told she has a she esophageal tumour between 25cm - 18cm and it’s 7cm in size does anyone know where about as in its this upper or lower oesophagus?
She had a CT today and was told the results will be forwarded to the GI MDT so now it’s just a waiting game. Obviously, as a family with devastated she is in pain mainly back ache and has been offered no pain relief and she has already lost 1/2 a stone.
I’m just so worried about her……..
I’m an only child and feel so alone right now and just don’t know what to expect…..
Hi there!
I am not sure where the tumour would be but would advise you to go to the gp or contact your clinical nurse specialist for pain relief for your mum. If one set of meds doesn't work after a day or so then go back to them till there is a combination that does work and suits your mum.
Try not to worry you are in safe hands and I know its difficult but the information on Google is out of date and everyone's circumstances etc is different.
The waiting game is the most difficult to bear but hang in there. The information will be forthcoming. If you don't hear anything then just contact whoever number you have to point you in the correct direction for more information.
Did you find out what day the GI MDT meeting was being held? Usually everyone case is discussed at this meeting and you would normally be contacted after the meeting to inform you of the next steps.
Hopefully you will find out soon.
Take care

I’m just so worried about her….
We live 350 miles apart but have a very close mother and daughter relationship and I have so many questions that I know I have to wait for the answers to come but the waiting is terrible.
I can’t eat or sleep though worry…..
Hi Rkji
I am very sorry to read that your Mum has been diagnosed with an oesophagaul tumour, I can understand how worried you are and I am pleased that you have found us here at the OC forum.
The MDT team will work quickly to determine the best course of treatment for your Mum, unfortunately every single day that goes by will feel like an eternity waiting for more information.
This type of Cancer has been in the top research over the past few years and things have changed dramatically and for many the treatment has been helpful.
I do hope that she hears back from MDT soon and that you let her know she is welcome to contact Macmillan on the number in my signature if she has any questions of her own.
