My lovely husband had 30 sessions of radical radiotherapy for tonsil cancer that had spread into tongue base. We are almost two years along. My husband still can’t eat anything other than liquids, soup and milkshakes. He still has a PEG tube to receive most of his nutrition. He has also had four dilatations after first two it shrank back second two have held. His swallow pipe as I call it, is now at 12mm. He feels like he could manage more if his throat wasn’t full of thick saliva all the time it seems to be getting worse. He has tried swilling his mouth with soda water, we tried lactose free milk, oat milk etc nothing seems to help. I am hoping someone has found something that has helped them. The coughing and spitting it out is exhausting for him. He is in most ways doing fairly well.
