  • Hi West, same here, 6 stone now, can't ;loose any more, feeding tube hopefully settling but I had issues with constipation and a hernia on top of everything. I was still playing a few holes a day during chemo but over did it.

Worth the fight, and 1 day soon, golf and chicken.

I now have simulator and Tiger Woods set up on the PC. I have had my 3rd chemo and it hasn't worked so asking for other treatments. Stay strong, MacMillan are amazing and will be with you every step of the way. Trust the feeding tube, it's saving my life at the moment but will be requesting a stent. Try everything, Bill

  • Hi. I had chemo. Now waiting for surgery. I was T3 N1 M0 fortunately no spread. Was on a soft food diet due to swallowing probs. My chemo shrunk my tumour after only one session so could eat more solid food. Hope that is the case for you. They may prescribe radiotherapy along with it which may help clear your liver as well as oesophagus. Heard some positive stories from other patients in chemotherapy day centre. There are so many different treatments out there. Hopefully you will be back playing golf when you build up your strength. Julia

  • Thanks your reply has given me more hope

  • Hi West,

Welcome to the forum.. I am pleased you found us, but sorry that you had to Pensive

Without doubt the news you received must have come as a massive shock, and I remember too well how I felt when my husband was diagnosed, the bottom fell out of my world and I feared the worst.

My Husband Dal, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Oesophageal Cancer with secondaries in his lung, liver and lymph nodes, at the beginning of May 2020, T3N3M1 GOJ, like yourself  he was advised treatment only, no surgery, no cure.   I suppose that is what caused the most shock, being advised that time was potentially a lot shorter than we had imagined.

He was advised by the consultant where he was diagnosed to avoid stents and feeding tubes for as long as possible, again, like you he lost around 3 stone in weight, but was prescribed Fresibin nutriment drinks, and I made smoothies and put in as many anti-oxidents as I could find.

You'll have already noticed that it has been nearly 2.5 years since Dal was diagnosed, it has not all been plain sailing but it has been a bit of a miracle, so if you can find your positivity, and if you can fight back against your lack of energy, then maybe you will be able to find your own miracle along the way.?  Do though whatever is best for you.

I have been writing a blog on and off, this can be found by clicking on the picture and following the link in the profile, you have to start at the bottom (which is now page 2) to get the full story, but maybe there will be some encouragment or tips that will be of use to you?

I want to wish you all the very best with your treatment - Good Luck

I've met some amazing people on here who surviving advanced cancers. It's not an easy journey we're on for sure but we can do this.
