Hello, I'm new here, was diagnosed with oesophagus cancer back in August.
Hi Kevin, sorry to hear that. My husband was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer at the start of August. We have since found out that it has spread to lymph nodes and liver. He starts chemotherapy in a couple of weeks. It's not a cure but to prolong life, still trying to get our heads around it all. Trying to stay positive, not easy tho! Apart from the acid reflux and swallowing issues ( he has now had a stent fitted, which has improved things) to look at him, if you didn't know about the cancer you wouldn't think there was anything wrong with him! That's what I find so hard. My thoughts are with you and your family. I' m new to the group as well. Xx

Hi Kevin57
Same diagnosis for me started with an endoscopy back in March started treatment about 6weeks ago on Capecitabine, had to stop after the first session as I couldnt breath (I do have asthma problems]after a 999 call spent 3 days in hospital treatment stopped for investigations etc Hopefully starting again with a different treatment next week like you no cure just hoping to prolong my life
Hi Kernowgirl thank you for your message, so sorry to hear about your husband.
Do you know how long the tumour is?
They did a PET scan and mine about is 15cm's long although they re-did the PET scan thinking so of the could be inflammation, fingers crossed, know the results of that tomorrow.
What have offered your husband, just chemotherapy?
I've lost weight, 15kg but now I'm on a feeding tube for hours at a time. Can you husband still eat, I can't, I can do sips of drink, tea.
Anyways nice to know someone going through the same.
Take care and look after your husband x x
They're saying my tumour is 30 to 35cm long- I think this has to be a mistake. I'm wondering if they mean 30 to 34mm. As the oesophagus is 25cm long. I only have intermittent swallowing issues. Did they take biopsies with the endoscopy? To truly know whats going on they need to do an endoscopy and biopsy any masses. Those have let them know its signet cell carcinoma. I've had a CT scan and PET scan which are suggesting that it hasn't spread. I have a endoscopic ultrasound and laparoscopy booked for this week.
I hope it all goes well for you
Hi to both of you, my partner has the same although he has had surgery and finished the next round of chemo also, his was 43cms long, I was sure this was wrong so asked again...correct.!!
They say they took out everything the eye can see and it went well but wont say he is cured which plays on my mind. He has put weight back on and eating most thing but still vomiting or trying to clear his throat constantly. He has had 2 stretches but they haven't worked, has a review app in3 days.
I hope it works out for you both well...
