Hello, my name is Bill and I am a 56 year old male with a 5 year old daughter who has been diagnosed with a Type 3No tumour in my esophagus just above the netry to the stomach. They say it is operatable, thank the Lord and now i have chemo therapy apponted to begin next Thursday. I cannot get any drink or food down me at all and am trying desperately to avoid a feeding tube or stem on advise from my doctor. I really want to make contact with others in my situation or who have gone through the entire procedure for help and advise and if there is any that I cann return. Kind Regards and the best of all the luck there is to be had. Bill
Hi Bill I have had the same diagnosis as you and have had my last round of chemo before the op this week. I have found the chemo quite hard as it progresses but my eating has got easier so I am hoping this means the tumour may have shrunk. I am now awaiting my post chemo scan and then a date for my op.
fingers crossed the chemo also helps your swallowing and good luck Jac
Hi Bill. I have just finished my 1st round of FLOT chemo prior to surgery. I am T3N1M0. I was on a soft food diet due to swallowing probs but after only one chemo session I can now east pasta, sandwich if I have it with soup and other things i cdnt have before. I would accept stent for time being. Its important to keep your strength up. Once your tumour starts to shrink you may not need stent anymore so you can have it removed. Julia
Hello Bill,
My partner is the same age as you. His diagnosis is T3 N3 M0 siewert 1, so just above the OJ , poorly differerenciated andenocarcinoma. He is also inoperable. He lost 3 stone very quickly and was on a liquid diet only. He is having immunotherapy and chemotherapy every 3 weeks. 3 days after 1st treatment, he started eating again. His first treatment was not too bad, when I picked him up he was quite chirpy. Next day a bit tired but he carried on as normal, infact we took a heavy sofa bed to the dump and carried a double wardrobe upstairs. He did have some tingling in his hands and was sensitive to cold but never said it stopped him. And he had diarrhea.
Second round was harder, he had pain in his arm when I picked him up. He was also tired and sick twice but later managed small dinner a chemo tablets without further sickness. Next day he slept mostly as he felt sick and was sick. Later in the evening he ate a small dinner. The next morning got up for work at 6 on the building site. The diarrhoea has been worst this time but eases by week 2. He also has put on weight and its stabilised.
He has one more round before a scan then we don't no whats next.
He also has turkey tail supplement and he always include high antioxidant foods in his diet. Mushrooms, Raspberries, Kale.
He also eats lots of ice cream.
Hi Julia, thank you for replying. It really has perked me up a bit. So looking forward to being able to get something into my stomach. I needed to loose a bit of weight but this is getting rough. Passed by perfect BMI a couple of days ago but been placed on steroids so hopefully they work soon. Cheers and best of luck and success as you move forwards, Kind Regards, Bill
Hi Lady74
I really hope you dont mind me reaching out to you. Your husbands case sounds very similar to my dads, although my dad is older (76) and really battling the tiredness. He's just two weeks into chemo. He's inoperable too. Can I ask, has your husband had a stent fitted and if so how is he finding it? Dad is really struggling, he says he always feels full. I just worry as he's lost so much weight and getting quite frail, I am unsure who to go to for help on this, even to get the stent checked. I wish you more positive news for the next stage of your journey.
PS my dad loves icecream too!
