I am wondering whether to request a second opinion regarding diagnosis and forthcoming treatment options. Has anyone else also done this?
My wife's cancer is very different - Leiomyosarcoma but on the route to diagnosis (very long story) we did at one point request a second opinion. One of the interesting things we found out in the process is patients do not actually have a right to a second opinion - though doctors are only likely to advise against if they feel it would create an unreasonable delay in treatment.
Many treatment decisions are made by multi-disciplinary team meetings (MDT) and in practice a significant number of professionals are likely to already involved in the decision. Personally my experience with MDT's though is they can be rather opaque.
Hope some of that helps.
