Hello everyone, I’m new to the group. I had a gastrooesophagecty June 2021, had chemo pre-op and radiotherapy post op. I had fluid in lungs and around heart so month in hospital. Had stricture due to radiotherapy followed by three balloon dilatations and now I can eat proper food at last. It has been a roller coaster and so I’ve joined the group as sometimes I feel I need support.Hope you are all doing the best you can do, much lovexxx
Hello Mary m
Welcome to the forum, and thank you for sharing some of your OC journey with us.
There are many others here, who like you have been through the surgery and are doing well, and I am everyone is here to support each other.
I apologise that I did not see this post earlier, and I hope you were not downheartened by the lack of a response sooner.
I do hope that you will share more of your experience with us, this forum is the place many OC patients come to find an understanding of what they may go through and I believe that your experience will be of great value.
I feel that you had quite a difficult experience, especially with the fluid in the lungs and around the heart, and that causing an extended stay in hospital might have been quite tough, but I am pleased to read that you are eating properly again now and that the roller coaster has maybe slowed down considerably.
We and the team at Macmillan are here for you, should you ever need to speak directly to someone for support please don't hesitate to call the number in my signature anytime between 8am and 8pm

tough times, strange times too as we are now coming out of covid restrictions but support isn't quiet up to speed. I had the Ivor Lewis oesphagectomy in 2017 then a secondary tumor was discovered in my lung in 2020 I had intense radiotherapy and chemotherapy and a a lobectomy to remove the tumor and I have been stable for the last six months with no new areas showing I currently have a maintenance dose of Herseptin chemotherapy every three weeks. There has be fluid build up around the lung surgery site but that has settled, it is hard sometimes to keep smiling and positive so I get where you are coming from
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
