Hi All, I have just started Chemo of incurable stage III adenocarcinoma, T3N3M1. I had my first intravenous Oxaliplatin yesterday and now on 2 weeks of tablets for a different Chemo, Capectabine. Last night my heart rate was high and I didn't sleep well but assume that was the steroids administered at the beginning, or simply the bodies reaction to the drug. Today, I have the classic peripheral Neuropathy, how long does that last, anyone know?
My overall energy is still good, still took the dog for a walk and have had a busy day. I experienced a little bit of nausea after lunch but the hospital gave me a backup supply of anti-emetics and that seems to have worked.
I'm hoping to go on to immunotherapy, maybe in the next cycle though that is going to make the hospital visit rather drawm out.
Anyone in a similar position?
Hi MarkC,
My hubby is on the same treatment about to start round 4. He found the neuropathy eased after a few days on round 1, however it seems to last longer after each round. It seems to have lasted throughout the whole of round 3 but don’t think the cold weather is helping.
We are still awaiting further biopsy results to see if additional immunotherapy can be added, hopefully we will hear before round 4 starts. We had T3 N1 M1 diagnose so very similar position.
Glad to hear you are doing well on Round 1 .. keep positive and fingers crossed for a continued good treatment

Hello Mark,
Welcome to the community, I am really sorry to read of your diagnoses, my husband was diagnosied Oesophageal Cancer with secondaries in his lung, liver and lymph nodes, at the beginning of May 2020, T3N3M1 GOJ -
He too suffered from peripheral neuropathy after his first few treatments which gradually got worse until they stopped one of the treatments, in six treatments (which was 1 ever 2 weeks, ) he was swapped onto targetted therapy. The neuropathy continued for some time, and even occasionally now.. but I imagine that it is different for everyone.
I am pleased to read that your overall energy remains good, and I wish you every success with your treatment
