Hi.
My MIL has been diagnosed recently and it has spread to her ovaries. Its called kruckenburg syndrome i think. The oncologist said its quite rare and has given her a year maybe less. Was wondering if anybody has any knowledge on anyone that has had this.
Thankyou
Hello Mellieroo
Thank you for reaching out here on the OC forum, you are very welcome, though I am sorry to read that your MIL has been diagnosed with OC with ovarian mets, as you mention, know as Krukenburg ttumours.
I do not have anything other than Google information on this type of metastasis, and wonder whether you may learn more if your MIL was to get in touch with ASK A NURSE?
It seems that a year prognosis is a ball park figure for OC, with treatment, but it is impossible to know, as you will see in reading through this forum, prognosis / survival seems to be depending on treatment and individual reaction.
I do hope that whatever treatment they decide for her has a positive effect on her symptoms and she outlasts the best guess prognosis, by many years.
She can also contact the macmillan helpline on the number in my signature if she would like to talk to someone outside of family and friends.
Good Luck
