Hi. I had an endoscopy on 11 may which showed Barrett’s, HH and a 5 cm suspect tumour. I had to wait over 3 weeks for CT and further week to see a nurse with the bad news of adenocarcinoma. I had to chase and chase to get the promised PET, over two weeks more, and a further update on 28 June at which the nurse gave us scant, and it turns out inaccurate info. Had to complain and now things are moving better. After an EUS on 4 July I’m now waiting for my laparoscopy.   Hopefully will see oncologist on 23rd July. Then onc nurses then treatment.  I reckon it will be 3 months from endoscopy to start of treatment. It just feels like they are leaving my time bomb to tick.

  • Hi HellyMcC

Sorry to read that you have an adenocarcinoma of the Oesophagus diagnosis, and that things are not moving quicker for you.

On May 5th 2020 my husband was diagnosed the same, he also has mets on his liver, lung and lymph nodes, not a great diagnosis and an absolute blow to our world... I am pleased to say that the treatment he has received has helped immensely, and although still on treatment, he is doing amazingly well.

If I can be of any support to you at all, please let me know, I appreciate it is a frightening time for you right now.

Glad to read that you will soon be talking to the oncologist, you will I am sure get more answers and a greater understanding of what paths they will take to speed you on your way successful treatment.

Please call the Macmillan helpline should you need someone to talk through your thoughts with, they have wealth of knowledge, and their number is in my signature
