Hi my husband was diagnosed with T3 N2 M0 lower oesophagus in April. He has just finished a course of FLOT.  Re Staging CT post chemo was supposed to happen on wed 30/6 unfortunately the scanner is broken so is now booked fir 14/7.
the waiting is the worst.
I am retired theatre sister and am my husbands carer.
he had nephrectomy in 1997 for cancer caught early. He was ok until 2016 when he was diagnosed with bladder cancer.
lots of resection of tumours since then until last jan when they could only remove 40% so he had a radical cystectomy and prostatectomy at the start of Covid. It was hard as I could not visit and he was very ill post op.
the last year he has had a slow recovery with many setbacks and he thought his trouble swallowing/eating/indigestion was due to them using a large part of his ileum for his urostomy.
I finally got him to tell the Gp and a scope was done.
we were looking forward to this summer and then this has hit him.
we are staying positive but that is now 4 primary tumours he has had. I am not looking forward to the surgery as I used to do these ops as a scrub nurse.
he doesn’t like talking about it and that’s why I have come here.
I also joined a bladder cancer group last year and they have been a great support. Thank you for letting me join

Thank you for sharing part of you and your husbands story here with us, how strong a couple you sound, supporting each other through so much, it must be extremely hard for you to experience these setbacks.

The treatment offered to different OC patients is what surprises me the most, my husband was diagnosed with OC with mets May 2020 and has been on chemo and the added immunotherapy ever since.

I truly hope that your husband is able to have the surgery, do you know which type of OC tumour he has been diagnosed with?
