Hi. Saying hello to you all.Was diagnosed with a gullet tumour may 2020. Opted to try chemo and radiotherapy rather than an operation immediately.  Tumour has gone. Clear ct scan but I am very low as endoscopy showed a small escape from original site. Oncologist says it could have been there all the time. I am currently physically well but mentally shot. Pet scan this week and I think I'm probably looking at the op anyway.  How has everyone else got through similar stuff. I feel I'm beginning to be a drain on my family. My husband died of cancer 10 years ago.

  • Hi Chug

Welcome to the forum, this is a great space for support and chat.

I am really sorry to hear that you have been told that the endoscopy has shown a small escape of the oesophageal cancer which you thought had been cleared after receiving chemotherapy treatment, this clearly has been a total shock for you and I can understand why you are feeling physically and mentally shot.

The PET scan will bring forward the current unknown answers, and maybe as you say an operation may be possible.

unfortunately my husband was not offered any surgery options, he was also diagnosed in May 2020, but has secondaries that made it impossible.

It has been a rollercoaster of a ride, and sometimes it does feel as if everyone else already has so much going on in their lives without having to worry about us, but I know that is just my thoughts and me not wanting them to have to worry about us.

I  hope that once you get the results from the PET scan you you be able to prepare yourself better and pray that things will be fine.
