Easter Saturday will forever be the day I remember as this was the day I was diagnosed. After a few weeks of heartburn, acid reflux and the feeling that food was getting stuck my wife (who is a Macmillan nurse) made me contact my GP. He was on the ball and refferred me for an endoscopy which I had on Easter Saturday and was told that what I had 'looked' like cancer but was confirmed after my CT scan, currently T3N2 but waiting for results of a PET scan I had done on the 15th April (my birthday) to see if it has spread. Even though I have only been living with this diagnosis for for 2 weeks it feels like a lifetime. Keeping everything crossed it hasn't spread and this can be treated.
Hi Mikepho,
Ask anybody on here & they will tell you the waiting game is awful.
But anyone on here will also be wishing you the absolute best for a good result.
Methods used to treat Oesophageal cancer have evolved so much in the last 15 years.
So have a positive mindset. Keep busy. I know it's easy for me to say, but try to not to think the worst.
I see your wife is a Macmillan nurse too. That is great, you couldn't have better support.
We all wish you our very best, so try not to worry until you have something to worry about.
I will be crossing everything for a successful outcome for you. Just like all the others on this forum.
Be strong my friend,
Best regards,
Graeme.
Hi Mikepho1
Welcome to our special space, we are here for each other, to chat, support and sometimes rant, I am so pleased that you have taken the first step and shared with us the experience you have had over the past few weeks.
Waiting as Graeme says is horrific, the time in between spent wondering.... but with T3N2 we hope as you say that is hasn't spread and will be keeping everything crossed with you.
I asked my husband to be open and honest with me when he was first diagnosed in May last year, in your case, your wife may have her career but this is You... so I am thinking of you both at this time.
Please keep us updated on your PET results!
Positive thoughts coming your way

Well got another curve ball thrown at me today. Got a call from the CNS looking after me to be told that the results of PET scan came back clear but they spotted something going on in my prostate so I have to now have some more blood tests. On a plus note at the MDT the surgeon has agreed to see me and that should be happening next week. Feeling frustrated but as my wife said it's better they find these things out sooner rather than later.
