I was diagnosed Sept 2022 with 12cm stage 4 EC.
Around 2006 I had a friend who was an ex-bar landlord and at the weekends after work we'd pop down the pub as a group. I started having red flush to the soft tissues around the eyes especially but also cheeks. He thought it might be due to cleaning fluid in the draught beer lines but it was happening no matter what I drunk. I wasn't a heavy drinker, mostly just the odd social. I'd never had a reaction before, so I just went fully onto soft drinks and didn't think much of it. Over the years I might have the odd glass every month of so with no reaction.
Recently I saw this video about Alcohol Flush Syndrome which, if you have it, increases your risk of oesophageal cancer 40-80x more than someone without the mutation.

I was wonder if anyone else experienced this?
Hi toldyouiwasill . I'm not from this group but noticed your post has slipped through without a reply, so I'm just giving it a bump to highlight it again. Very interesting post and hopefully someone with experience will be along to help. Best wishes.
Hi, I'm Tony one of the Community Champions, I have had 2 cancers as you see at the bottom, one was OS cancer and was treated with Chemo and Radiotherapy, my first was a Laryngectomy- Voicebox cancer- I was a drycleaner using harmful chemicals and also at one stage a Landlord of 2 pubs, so drank and smoked, I still drink now and no the AFS your talking about I have never heard of, if you are concerned that it's serious the speak with your GP or Cancer Team if you are still on their List
I wouldn't look at Google etc and to behonest or talks from non professionals, you can also ask a Nurse on this forum
Sorry can't explain further but I also looked and am trying to help as much as I can
Take care
Tony

Hi Tony,
Thank you for the response. Much appreciated. I'm not overly concerned as a I don't really drink. But my post was really more about finding out if anyone else experienced the same symptoms with alcohol, and as a heads up to others - spread the word type thing.
Thanks again.
