He is back in hospital for the second time in 3 weeks. He was admitted on Sunday because the district nurses didnt like the look of him as he was extremely pale & felt dizzy & he had also had a fall in the night. When he was admitted the dr who saw him told him he looked extremely poorly & took his bloods. It turns out his haemoglobin was so low he was immediately prescribed 3 units of blood. His blood pressure was so low they were very concerned.
No wonder he looked so ill & was dizzy. He was in a&e for 48 hrs then eventually moved to a 6 bedded ward I complained to the palliative team as he should have been put into a side room. They also let his syringe driver run out & left him in absolute agony with the pain. His palliative nurse prescribed extra pain meds but it was nearly 3 hrs before he got those. I will be putting another complaint in again today. He got moved late last night to a side room on another ward. Let's hope these nurses are a bit more on the ball. I wanted to bring him home yesterday so I could look after him properly & @ least he would get his pain meds when he needs them. He had a 4th unit of blood.
