He is back in hospital for the second time in 3 weeks. He was admitted on Sunday because the district nurses didnt like the look of him as he was extremely pale & felt dizzy & he had also had a fall in the night. When he was admitted the dr who saw him told him he looked extremely poorly & took his bloods. It turns out his haemoglobin was so low he was immediately prescribed 3 units of blood. His blood pressure was so low they were very concerned.
No wonder he looked so ill & was dizzy. He was in a&e for 48 hrs then eventually moved to a 6 bedded ward I complained to the palliative team as he should have been put into a side room. They also let his syringe driver run out & left him in absolute agony with the pain. His palliative nurse prescribed extra pain meds but it was nearly 3 hrs before he got those. I will be putting another complaint in again today. He got moved late last night to a side room on another ward. Let's hope these nurses are a bit more on the ball. I wanted to bring him home yesterday so I could look after him properly & @ least he would get his pain meds when he needs them. He had a 4th unit of blood.
bless detty, one thing we found throughout this whole journey, despite our best intentions to question, and ask, and research, and take your note book in, so many times came out of appointments, treatment going what the ........, still so confused, definately use pals, most of my team were amazing, but there was a nurse that put the fear of god in us, no compassion, and not very nice. we never had her in any appointments after that first one.
hoping you get him home sooner rather than later, so you can look after him, this family, although none of us wanted to join, is the best place for help, advice, honesty, and to rant, so keep talking, and asking, you are in very good hands, with us lot relating to what you are going through
take care jules
