Has anyone got any recommendations for wedge pillows from amazon to help with overnight reflux?

  • Hi AdeG welcome to the forum. I can't say that I have any experience of these wedge pillows but I also feel certain that someone in the thread will be along soon to offer some words of advice for you to make the right choice.

  • hi when i had breast cancer just went to denelm and got a comfy one, didnt use it much for the breast, but when i had this new diagnosis, it definatley helped with the acid reflux, better to go into the range or dunelm if you can so you can try the firmness, was approx £20 with a pillow case from amazon £5.  good luck

  • I brought a wedge pillow for my dad. Best thing we managed to get since going through the journey. Really has helped him get more comfortable in bed and to sleep. I got mine off Amazon for him.

  • Hi AdeG I don’t know how the price compares but we used the Oesophageal Patients Association discount for Putmans. If you go on their website and select support and guidance, the drop down menu list includes bed wedges. Other useful info on there as well.

  • Hi AdeG

This is a big problem for a lot of us now that we no longer have an Oesophagus - the one way valve that effectively controls reflux. I tried everything, v shape pillows, shaped memory foam and soft down pillows, and combinations of each. The one factor to stop reflux now is to stay upright. No bending down. So sleeping sitting fully upright, if possible, is a must. I have to use a bed with motorised adjustable back support and foot rest to get the angle just right so I do not get any reflux, or cough, which could bring up stomach acid. Even with this adjustable bed, it still took me ages to get the right combination of pillows to be able to feel comfortable. I have ended up with just a single “anti-snoring” firm pillow from Aldi, behind my back, and a head support roll pillow for my head. Once you find the best sleeping angle and support for your back, raise your legs up a bit, you may then be comfortable enough to sleep. I must admit, trying to sleep in a sitting position is not easy, the bed covers or duvet covers won’t stay in place, but the relief from reflux is like heaven! Also, sucking mints helps.

    All the best Big Al
