Looking for advice to stop me going insane!

I've always been a windy kinda guy tbh, my party piece is burping out a song! However since having my operation this talent is now a hindrance.

I'm having huge bouts of burping accompanied by incessant hiccups after meals and drinks.

Can anyone who has had this problem give me any advice on how to make it stop it or even alleviate it as it's driving me (and those in my vicinity) bonkers!

Thanks Everyone!

  • Sorry to seem insensitive but you made me lol with that post. You have a great sense of humour. No advice except to keep making people laugh when you can. I know that won't help with the current problem though x

  • Well let's face it Lozza if we don't laugh we'd cry! The ironic thing is my username of Bilious Bob predates my cancer diagnosis by a good few years!

  • I too went through that, still get it from time to time. The worse ones are the unexpected ones, and come from no where and out before you can even raise your hand.

As for help again sorry can’t help only to say it does get easier as other muscles learn to act as the lower oesophageal sphincter

  • Irony indeed! Is that a family nickname or colleagues?

  • Oh it's my own, all my friends and family would be too polite to call me names!

  • Yep. That's me. Not the burping song mind you

    I burp ... Gustily.

And something else too. Much to my annoyance. Fortunately I work from home, therefore nobody minds the sound effects much.

I'm not sure what to do about it either.

    Cheers

  • My husband is one year post op.  He started suffering a lot of burping.  We worked out it coincided with cutting down his Lanzaprole dose to one at night.  It is much better now he has gone back to having a tablet morning and night again. He still burps very loudly but no where near as often.
