I finished my chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment three months ago, just waiting for a scan in the next few weeks . Although after finishing treatment it was difficult to eat this has improved and l am eating much more now but small amounts but I still got some discomfort in the oesophageal while eating , so I need to eat very slowly
Hi JaneyM1
Glad to hear that your eating had improved.
I had chemotherapy and radiotherapy (no operation) in 2021, I'm 3 years clear. I still have to take small bites and chew thoroughly because my oesophagus is scarred and doesn't stretch as much as before. I'm a very slow eater. I also stick to a very plain diet, nothing spicy. I was told that if needed I could have my oesophagus stretched, but I'm ok as long as I stick to small bites & chew thoroughly. Occasionally something - usually bread - will take a while to pass down my oesophagus and I use that as a reminder to myself to be more careful.
Take care,
Amanda
Hi Crochetherapy
thanks for your reply like you l only had chemotherapy and radiotherapy no operation. Now feeling a lot better after treatment just noticing this problem when eating like you I’m not very good when eating bread. I am having a scan in a few weeks so I will then know if the treatment worked . But I am feeling a lot better , not gaining much weight but I’m only eating small amounts I think that will take a while
