after having chemo, then radiotherapy,  how long after radiotherapy  would you have any tests to see how the cancer is doing,  i had 1cm in my upper oesophageal , i had chemo ,  then when tested i had camera down throat, no cancer seen , but took biopsies, but not sent as target, i told them at the time i was really not happy about that,  because if the slightest chance i still had it , then it should be sent as target,, but it was not,   it then shew a minute trace of cancer still, so had radiotherapy , a bit longer than i would have liked to wait due to not sending as target, and it is small cell cancer , so should have not waited due to idiots making stupid decisions with your life  ,  now i finished radio  feb 17th  my next phone consultation has just arrived its may 4th,  no sign of any tests to  see what stage i am at ,   HOW LONG HAVE OTHERS WAITED AFTER RADIOTHREAPY  TO GET TESTED

  • Hi- The scans can't take place until 12 weeks after the RT due to you still radiating and it will be a contrast scan, I still have scans every 3 months since last March to check everything is OK, I also didn't have an endoscomy until 4 months after treatment as a back up

Unfortunately if there was something there then to options would be limited as I think RT target at the same area is very rare ina short time

Hope you get the all clear with your tests
