Every ones advice has been tremendous and my son has been able to get past the retching and started to eat almost normally albeit small portions, life was  starting to feel normal again, BUT a week ago began sicking up part of whatever he was eating, now he cannot keep anything down, even a cup of tea.

Phoned his Macmillion contact at the hospital yesterday and the dietitian but no one has  returned his call , starting to get very anxious now.

anyone else experience this ?

  • I do hope things have improved for your Son concernedmum!

    Sorry that this post had gone unanswerered up until now.

    Food and drink reactions are specific to each individual, and I hope the dietician has been able to help your son with his.

  • No things have got worse, from managing softbdiet, to starting to eat more normal things he now cannot eat anything.

    a spoonful of jelly and seconds later it comes out, cup of tea, drink of water all the same. His mouth , throat! is just full of thick sticky mucus.Which he has to constantly spit out.

    He is booked in for another endoscopy in 12 days until then kept going on his tube feeding.

    hes now very depressed and fed up

  • I am sorry to read this;

    12 days feels like such a long time when waiting for something so important, i can understand why he would be feeling so low.

    I hope they can provide him with some relief somehow, and the sooner the better x

  • Where does all this mucus come from?

  • I wish I could help to answer that for you, but I am guessing in my response.

    I believe that we all produce mucus,daily, but when we are well, the mucus drains down the oesophagus into the  stomach and we do not notice it.  If the Oesophagus is blocked in any way, the mucus will not drain and will therefore build up.

    There are some posts on this forum regarding mucus and how to deal with them, not sure if you have managed to find any of these to read?
