I am sorry to ask such a personal question about anything anyone is going through, but this has completely caught us unaware. Mum has had 2 quite serious bouts of it in 3 days. Is this something others have experienced?
Just hoping for some sort of help as mum is up and down alot.
Thank you for taking the time to read this

You don’t say what treatment your mum is on or has had or when, so it’s difficult to say whether I’ve experienced this. But after my surgery I had loose stools for probably two years, sometimes worse than others. After a while my digestive system settled down. I always say it was because I started taking probiotic supplements, but who knows, maybe it was just time and hea
Counting the days, making every day count.

Hi
This has been a real issue for me from when I had my first chemo, after the op and now with the second chemo. I have been prescribed Imodium which doesn’t seem to touch it while on chemo. It stops me eating sometimes as I know what’s coming!
I would suggest talking to the oncology team or the GP. They will check there is nothing else going on such as an infection and then assist.
As Brent has suggested I have been told it will settle down over time once treatment is over.
Sorry BrentS, my mum has stage 4 terminal esophageal cancer, she hasn't had any treatments, she is hopeful that next week she will have a week of radiotherapy and then if needed a stent. Her time is limited, 2-3 months if she does nothing, 9-12 months perhaps with some radiotherapy.
I am glad you are counting the days and making every day count, we are trying to do the same, seeing family, friends when she is able and has the strength. She is so very very tired.
Thank you again
Thanks Jacpop, I think its interesting that mum hasn't had treatment and is getting this, its made her quite worried about leaving the house. I have put a call into the oncology team to see if this is to be expected. She is 81 but fit and able. I am just glad she lives with me and so isn't going through this alone.
Thank you
