Hi
has anyone have any experience of fluid on the lung?
and complaining of stomach pain
They first thought the fluid was pneumonia and over the space of 3 days they drained 4 litres from his right lung with more remaining.
hubby was unwell over Xmas and was admitted into hospital on Tuesday, were they confirmed the fluid had built up again and it was related to his cancer. they will now have to put in a drain to drain the fluid (we are still waiting for this to happen) he is now being pumped up with anti sickness medication, pain relief and a sedative.
he was not able to eat because of feeling nauseous all the time and acid. Stu was diagnosed in jan of this year 4 lots of Flot chemo ivory lewis operation and then 4 lots of Flot chemo. After the operation we were told the tumour was bigger then expected so they may have left some cancer behind to make the stomach, we found out recently that yes cancer is still there he has had a PET scan to determine treatment.
my worry is the fluid on the lungs why is it happening and will it stop? And the pain in his stomach
Hi T071
I am sorry to read that your husband has been having so many complications, it must be extremely concerning for you both, especially with him being admitted into hospital.
I wanted to bump up your post in the hope that someone else who has known of or experienced similar issues may be able to respond to you.
2022 was very much of a rollercoaster ride for you guys, I do hope that you hear what the plans are for the determined treatment and that this can start ASAP, thinking of you both

Hi, I had my surgery in 2020 and there was a delay in taking my chest drains out because they would not stop draining , anyway I was discharged and thought I was on the road to recovery but I just wasn’t feeling as though I was progressing. I started having trouble breathing and felt very weak in March, I spoke with the specialist nurse who made arrangements for me to go to hospital, I then spent a week there after they drained 3 litres from my right lung and 2 on my left. The cause of this is something called a Kyle/Chyle leak, it can be a complication after this particular surgery but is quite rare. After this episode I started to recover much better. I would advise you to have a word with your specialist nurse or consultant to ask if there’s a possibility of a leak. Mine had obviously been slowly leaking since the surgery and I was drowning without knowing it. Hope this is some help.
Hi we have now found out that it is related to the cancer.
there was some tumour left behind after the Ivory Lewis operation to make the remaining stomach, we have had it confirmed that this cancer is still there but we have also found out that he has little bits of cancer spread around his body, one in the lung causing the fluid, one in the liver, a bit in his pelvis and another bit in his spine at the back of his neck.
we have now been told it's terminal and he has months to live, devastated as we have two boys 11 and 13,
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
