My husband is bringing up a lot of mucus…. Does anyone else have that with oesophageal cancer.

Evelyn

  • Hi Evelyn, most of us get or have had this problem, you don't say what treatment your Husband has had so it's hard to describe completely but the main cause of it normally is the Radiotherapy as it passes through the Chest/Lungs. I was suffering with too much mucus prior to my round as I had had a Laryngectomy nearly 2 years earlier and I also had a diagnosis of emphysema so that didn’t help.

It also depends at what stage he is at with treatment(s) so if he is still under treatment he best speak with his Oncology Team. I went to my GP and they have prescribed tablets which are certainly working but this was 4 months after finishing treatments.

There is help but I think it’s timing with the treatments as his problem may subside after a while

    Take care both
