I wad diagnosed with stage 4 oesophageal incurable  cancer in  December 2022. I started Capox chemo therapy  but unfortunately after 4 Sessions I required a stent and the Capox treatment was stopped. I have now had my 4th session of the chemo Docetaxel. I have lost a great amountt of weight as I lost my appetite while on Capox food tasted like cardboard. since being having Docetaxel chemo my appetite as gradually come back but unfortunately i am  producing phlegm/ / mucus and I am not able to keep foods down. I had my oncologist appointment today and my treatment has been stopped and I have been put on steroids. I cannot understand why my oncologist  has not suggested any form of artificial ways of feeding . I feel I have been written off.

Any one in the same situation? Any advice would be appreciated

Wishing you all well

I am sorry things have not been easy since you diagnosis, certainly by reading your post it sounds as if just as soon as things start to be going ok, something else comes along and gets in the way of your treatment.  It is for me quite difficult to give you any advice because I think you need professional input to understand why you have not been given eating aids or even if a different type of treatment is available to you.

Please consider calling the Macmillan Team on the number in my signature, their professional knowledge may offer you questions to ask your oncologist or suggestions on going forwards.

I do wish you the very best of luck and that you soon get the additional support that you need.
