Hi everyone
I'm 37 and was diagnosed with stage 4 oesophageal cancer which had spread to bones in October and was classed as paliative as i couldnt have an operation. I've had 8 rounds of flot and was eating again fine, ct and pet scan 6 weeks ago shown the oesophageal cancer was pretty much non visable and classed as full metobolic reaction, obviously we were very happy.
Unfortunately last week I couldn't breath and a chest xray shown I had pleural effusion, I had 1.5 litres drained but this came back a week later and tests confirmed it was active cancer cells in the fluid. Needless to say my oncologist was suprised given my recent ct scans.
I had another 2 litres drained and given talc to hopefully fuse it together. My oncologist said its treatable.
I was released from hospital on yesterday but and panicking about my breathing, it being back, whats normal etc after having a pleural drained, recovery and if it takes time to feel well-ish again.
I wondered if anyone had any experience with pleural effusion and could offer any advice.
Many thanks
Aaron
