last session 6 weeks ago, what can I do about it?

  • Hi welcome

I had this type of problem during chemo and it was thrush so simple medicine should cure it but perhaps speak with your support team or GP you may find a chemist will help also most likely quicker in these days!

  • Thank you Tony, I have an appointment with my doctor this week so will ask him. I am receiving my treatment in France, and not being the worlds best linguist we are often at cross purposes, so I find tihis site a real boon!  The upside is my dr is a one man practise who knows his patients well, and a 30 minute appointment is not uncommon, while he rings the hospital to clarify things!

  • Hi

Great you appear to have better treatment than over here best of luck and hopefully that's all it is certainly sounds like it I was unsure as I had never had it before so am just taking a punt that it is Thrush

Hope the results turn out OK from the treatment, mine has, everything is clear for now so just still recovering bit by bit trouble is when you get a swing or pain you wonder ! Live life and you are certainly oin a good place to do that, look at here we are panicking over the heat now if not that it would be snow

Hope everything is OK at your appointment, Take Care

  • I had 5 weeks of radiotherapy with 7 rounds of chemo at the same time, apparently my body was strong enough to have them together although it didn't feel like it at the time!  A scan in June showed a good result apparently, but didn't say I was clear. Have another scan in 2 weeks to check progress and then an appointment with my specialist to check results. Yes the treatment has been excellent with a free ambulance taxi for the 100 mile round trip to Poitier university hospital for every treatment!. I think where my tumour was located made an operation impossible . I'm so glad your treatment has been successful.

  • Yes snap I had the same treatment as they considered the tumor was too high up and as they caught it early from a routine scan for my Larynx cancer, follow-ups the Oncologist was quite confident she could cure it, I had 2 rounds of Chemo 3 weeks apart and then started the once week chemo and daily RT, the RT effected my stoma which was the most worrying part and horrible mess but other than that I seemed OK until about a week after it all finished and I was flat for 2 weeks which was dissapointing as I had continued working all the way through but I'm back now working part time and walking the dogs !

Hope all your tests come back OK I'm on 3 monthly scans and reviews for the OS and 6 ,monthly for the Laryngectomy but the good bit is I have a very strong and respected Consultant and she is really in charge of my case for both even though I deal with the Oncologist for the OS. My travelling wasn't as dramatic though Aldershot to Guildford.

  • Exactly the same for me, great during treatment and then 11 days of staggering between bed and couch! Apparently if all is well they are going to remove my thyroid as I've had hashimotos for several years, and have a yearly scan on the nodules to check growth, as far as I know still the same, but I suppose they know best!

  • They removed my right neck one when I had the Laryngectomy, it's been a swine since and just as it started to settle the last lot seems to have disturbed it again very tender to touch my neck and a bit stiff again, just keep rubbing in the Ibrofurin cream ! it may be the nerves are healing again that's what they say happens from time to time.

  • Definitely sounds like thrush. You will be prescribed a medicine and it might take 2 days to start working. I used half a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda dissolved in water as a mouthwash and to brush off the white stuff too as soon I saw it in my mouth and until the meds worked for a bit of relief and to get rid of the bad taste.
