Hi all,
just wanted somewhere understanding where I can express my experiences. As from previous posts some of you might know I had the esophagectomy a month ago, all went well. Adjusting to the eating is another matter! I know it’s early days but I’m more down about this and it’s side effects than the chemo before and the operation itself. I’m never hungry so have to force myself to eat really and I know I’m not eating enough. Have indigestion at times which puts you off eating and now I’ve got constipation! Can feel it right there but I’m not supposed to strain so it’s just sitting there (been once in a week)! Trying the usual, - prunes, orange juice, had a sachet of laxido this morning and a stool softener, been for a walk but all to no avail!! Just eaten some tuna fish with mayo and baked beans but it’s hard to eat when you need to go to loo but nothing happening!! Think I’d rather have the opposite!!
thanks for listening all
Hi
I know how you feel, I had it for a while whilst I was taking Codiene Tablets, the sachets you have to take several times a day, have you tried senna as well, I took them every evening once I had shifted ehat feels like a blockage and for that I doubled up but really you should speak with your GP Surgery if you can't use a supository yourself and the they will give you further support ongoing with prescriptions
Hope all gets going !
Tony

Thanks both of you, no movement after the laxido (although I need to take another one). I tried 2 suppositories a while ago (one at a time), I then rushed to loo only to find only thing that came out was the suppository! I’m certain I put them in far enough?
Hi
I have looked on my box of laxido which the GP prescribed and it’s 4 the first day 6 sachets 2nd day and 8 on the 3rd if no response
With the suppository you have to wait as long as possible ie at least 30 minutes!
keep trying

Hi Browndog
I suffered from constipation when converting to pureed food. About 4 days had elapsed and despite lots of straining no movement was happening. My GP and local Pharmacist suggested Lactulose. £5.99 a bottle. Easy to take, tastes a bit syrupy. After 2 days - oh what joy!! Natural movements returned and no straining required. Feel so m much better now that weight is off my mind. Took small dose for a couple days and then stopped. All OK, but bottle is at the ready just in case. Hope everything has improved with you by now - I have only just joined the group but your comments resonated with me. Good luck. Simon
