Hi everyone, I’m now 6weeks post op, getting stronger everyday light exercise-walking upwards of a mile a day. Eating just about everything in small portions, able to enjoy a couple of pints of beernce a week.it was tough first couple of weeks, liver and kidney’s took a battering, not to much regurgitation, only occasionally, not had to much food dumping, stomach ache if you eat to much and q
ckly, found I can’t sleep on left side without regurgitation especially when feeding at night with liquid feed, which now has been reduced because I’m maintaining weight so well, it’s strange not be
g so hungry anymore. But enjoying my food still and no change in taste. Some day’s are better than other’s but that’s just life. Got ct scan next week so fingers crossed everything is good, hopefull
feeding tube will come out, meeting with oncology team to see next steps , possibly chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Onwards and upwards, and I hope that all your journeys are successful and your tre
ment plans work. All the best Haybag

That’s the operation I had , Ivor Lewis. Oesophagus taken out , stomach reached up and reattached. 6weeks ago.
Jmc16, how are you doing after operation, 2weeks post op I was still pretty sore and bruised. How long was you in hospital for, I was able to go home after 8days. First 2/3 weeks after I got home were quite tough I found with a lot of constant itching and not being able to sleep. Wanted to be up and about straight away. How’s your eating and drinking going.
Sounds like we're having a pretty similar recovery, I was 8 days in, the pathology showed cancer in only one of 24 nodes and it showed the clear margins I was praying for so seems good. I'm sure andruised as well but you're giving me hope that should end soon. I'm eating ok but "Smooth/ soft" foods. Not needing too much pain relief now but trying not to be too proud to admit when I'm a big gi
s blouse
. Sleeping with wedge pillows about 4-6 hours but usually get a nap in the recliner soon after getting up.
Thank you Haybag for your very encouraging text. You words are exactly what I was needing to read tonight. My partner has been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer and is due to start radio/chemo therapy in a week. However he has been in local hospital for three weeks now with feeding tube inserted but until his aspirate PH reading reduces from a constant 6.5 or over, he won't get out of hospital until it is within the limit of 2 - 5.5. There are no hospital visits just now because of infection. When talking to him on phone tonight he is very weak and very down. I said to him to look forward to eating again after his treatment but he said that wouldn't happen. I actually came on to this site to find out how to deal with this despondency and now I find, thanks to you and others, that there is hope and that he can be positive and look forward to eating and getting out of this the other side. I have copied your text so that I can show him tomorrow when I drive him to see his oncologist, that there is hope. Thank you and I hope that your journey continues to be positive
