So been for pre-surgery assessment today, surgery Monday. Seems real now. Don’t want to think or dwell to much on it, especially after they told me what the surgery entails. So good luck to everyone on this site, and good luck on your journey. Hopefully see you on the other side, onwards and upwards Haybag. Will post again when I’m able to after surgery.

  • Evening Haybag, I wish you well buddy and hope you recover quickly. Please do share when you have recovered and feeling better :)

  • Cheers vinny, will be in touch as soon as I’m up and about again, hope your doing well, onwards and upwards mate.

Hi Hannah, we will be sending you positive thoughts next week for a successful outcome. As the tubes get removed over the days you should start to feel better. I felt better especially after the nasal tube was removed. Take a lip balm or vaseline to apply to your lips to avoid cracked lips. I wasn't even allowed water to drink. I got an ice cube stuck on a sponge swab to quench my thirst. I look forward to your update, but don't worry about how long you may be in hospital for. Good luck and kind regards Frank.

  • Thanks zappaman, cheers for the tips. Not looking forward to it, but it’s the only option. So here we go. Onwards and upwards.Haybag

Hi Haybag, I don't think any of us were looking forward to it. I can imagine you might be tired of people telling you to be positive. But honestly it really does help to have a positive attitude. Picture yourself getting better every day, although I don't remember much about the first 4 days in the ICU. You will have lots of tubes coming out of your body for various reasons. As the tubes come out you will start to feel better each day, I felt so much better after the nasal tube was removed. Having a chest infection is quite common but treated with antibiotics. I was in hospital for 12 days so don't try to get out too quickly, you will also have to do as you are told, but don't be afraid to ask questions. Good luck and kind regards Frank.

  • Sending love and hugs your way, Haybag.

My husband's surgery was early December and he's doing well now after a rocky start. Take each day as it comes, do as you're told and tell them if things don't feel right. Tiny x

  • Thinking of you today Haybag

Sending strength and healing thoughts. x
