Hello best wishes to anyone suffering with this cancer.
I would like to hear the experience of any one who have had a Stent inserted. I’m not sure if I’m ready or need this option yet but would be grateful to know how others managed in respect of effectiveness and discomfort during and after operation.
thanks for the your responses in advance
Stay as well as possible
regards Michael
Hi Michael
I am going to bump up this post, I don't know enough about stent insertions to be able to comment but there are several posts on the site already - You could look through THESE older posts which will give you some answers hopefully
Take care of you

Hi Artyman,
My father in law, 101, had one fitted approx 4 weeks ago.
Unfortunately, they can’t do anything else for him as he wouldn’t survive ops or other treatments.
He can swallow soft foods but very little amounts and he’s very quickly entered end of life stage so his appetite is virtually nil.
Im sure the stent is working fine, he just doesn’t want to eat.
For a man of his age, he suffered no effects of having the stent fitted, and was discharged to our care four days later.
I wish you all the very best going forward, thinking of you...
Regards
My husband (58) had a stent fitted last Tuesday came home and started vomiting coffee grains, there is a medical term can’t remember it struggled with how much he was being sick so I took him to hospital was kept in until weekend, apparently he’s one of the unlucky ones as stent hasn’t seemed to work. He couldn’t swallow even fortisips before he had it done but now is managing to eat trifles and soup, he was originally diagnosed on 23/10 with full results on 19/11. Good luck on your journey take care
Sorry to hear about his experience with the stent, but glad to hear he is actually managing soup and trifles now. Have you tried a juicer (use non acidic fruit and veg) apples, pears, carrots, cucumber and stuff like that are great and may help vary things up. My Mrs makes me a rice pudding and blends all the rice until its liquid which is also really nice and full of calories
