Good evening all
Can anyone share their immunotherapy knowledge or experience with me please?
I have had a horrendous journey with my mum, we were given hope at the start of this last year and had it ripped away slowly over last 10 months.
basically the chemo isnt working anymore so immunotherapy has been offered - just wanted other opinions on it as we are due to see consultant again on Thursday and make a decision about immunotherapy.
thanks in advance
Hi DI1973
Welcome to the forum, thank you for reaching out here, I am so sorry to read that your Mum has had an horrendous experience during the past 10 months of her journey, and that the chemo is not working.
Immunotherapy has been a life enhancer for my hubby, given a prognosis of 12 months with treatment, he started immunotherapy after 5 chemotherapy treatments which were administered fortnightly. The combination of drugs now used have for him "worked" with almost no side effects at all.
There are various drugs being used and trialled now for OC which have had great results, and I hope that your Mum will have clear information provided to her of the exact treatment that they want to administer.
I am unsure of how your Mum's chemo was administered, or whether she has any secondaries to consider, and I know that everyone reacts differently, all I can say is based on Dal's experience with immunotherapy so far, I would at least afford it some serious consideration.
I do hope something positive comes your way

Hi Dl1973
I am sorry to hear your Mom is suffering the journey with cancer reminds me of a rollercoaster. It is lovely for your Mom to have you to care for her. Like your Mom the hospital told us my husband chemotherapy wasn’t working. He has secondary cancer spread to his Lymph nodes. He was offered immunotherapy which he accepted on 1 September. I have heard some people really improve with this but I guess as you know everyone has a different experience. He is having it every two weeks I am waiting for some improvement to his health but I guess it’s early days yet as he has had only twice so far. He sleeps so much I not sure if it’s the immunotherapy or morphine he is on for the pain. Sorry I haven’t much information that could help you.
wishing you and your Mom strength and hope x
Hi Milie
Thank you for your reply. I hope your husband improves and feels better soon, It seems the hospital haven’t used immunotherapy before and my mum will be the first to try it out, not sure how I feel about that. Mum will be having it every two weeks also. We have a while to think about it now at least and I appreciate your reply and keep me updated on hubby - thinking of you both xx
