Hi, my dad can no longer eat. He has a stent fit but the tumour has grown over the stent. I need to know what happens next? Does he starve or choke to death? Sorry to be so direct but I am so scared and worried about his short-term life. Than you
Hi, I’m so sorry to hear about your Dad. My husband had a stent fitted a few weeks ago. While he was waiting for it to be fitted he was in hospital as was dehydrated due to not being able to swallow. They fed him intravenously for a few days. Have the doctors suggested what they can do? Is surgery possible? They may fit a peg so that he can be fed directly into his tummy if they need to. Really feel for you. This is such a worrying time. Sending lots of hugs xx
Thank you Lancslady. Unfortunately he is at end of life. He has done so well though at 84 he has been fit and healthy up to the last 12 months. I just don't know what to expect or what to look out for. The stent did real good to start with but they won't do a swallow test now as it is progressive cancer. Wishing you the best of luck for your husband. Have a good Christmas x
