My 74 yr old father in law received diagnosis yesterday of oesophageal cancer with liver mets. He is fit usually healthy and only symptom was back pain on lower right side of rib For last 3 weeks. So far we don’t know exactly what we are dealing with yet, we are awaiting biopsies and he is being discussed at the multi disciplinary team on Thursday.

I am hoping he gets offered something that will keep him here longer but not ruin the quality Of life he has.
I have been ready through the forum and am learning so much already

  • Hi  and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that your father-in-law has recently been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. I know what an incredibly hard time this will be for the whole family.

It's great to see that you have found the community helpful in learning about this type of cancer. You might also like to join the family and friends group which is a safe and supportive place to share your worries with others who have someone living with cancer. If this is something you feel you'd like to do then clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your father-in-law's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
